In accordance with the NHS
Italian or foreign patients can access to this type of admission, as long as they are registered to the Italian NHS and have a Health Card.
- Ordinary admission (by reservation): on the advice of a general physician or specialist, after an examination performed at the C.C.D. Morgagni or in other external clinics. If the admission comes from a request by a general physician or a specialist working in other clinics (external to the C.C.D.), the admissibility of the request itself will be examined by the admission doctor.
- Emergency admission (without reservation): this is the case of requested admission by the attending physician or by a specialist who, during an outpatient examination, has detected an emergency situation. Also in this case, the doctor who accepts the admission will evaluate the adequacy of the admission request and will proceed, if necessary, to start the admission procedures.
For the admission it is necessary to provide the following documentation:
- Health insurance Card;
- Valid identification document;
- Request for admission with “E” attachment, issued by the attending physician.

ADMISSION TO THE HOSPITAL ROOMS BY FAMILY AND VISITORS
To access the wards, your accompanying person or any visitor will have to provide special identification passes.
Their different colours identify:
- the accompanying person with permission (green pass)
- the temporary accompanying person (blue pass)
- visitors during the visiting hours (yellow pass).
During the cleaning procedures, medications, medical examinations, the accompanying person cannot stay in the room, with the exception of the minor’s family member. The entrance and exit of the accompanying person is allowed from 8am to 9pm.
The accompanying person with permission is also required to leave the room when the patient is transferred to a different ward (Operating Room, ICU, Semi-Intensive Therapy).
An accompanying person with permission means a family member or a dear one who can assist you during the entire stay, but only if you are in a single room. The accompanying person with permission is also authorized to assist their family member under the age of 18.
A temporary accompanying person means one of your family members or a dear one who can remain in the ward as long as you need, during the admission, the accommodation in the room or the release process. He or she is also authorized to assist you for one hour after the surgery procedure.
Visitors are considered all those who, during the visiting hours, can access the wards to visit the patients. In the patients’ best interest, visitors must keep to the visiting hours. To provide patients with tranquility, and for hygienic reasons, it is allowed the access to 2 visitors with the yellow pass per patient. In case of simultaneous presence of more visitors for the same patient, they need to agree on the rotation of their visits to the patient itself.
Children under the age of 12 are not allowed in the wards.
ONE DAY SURGERY
The admission to One-Day Surgery is advised by the Clinic specialists after an outpatient examination. On the same day of admission, the preliminary tests and the surgery procedure will be carried out.
An overnight stay at the Clinic is expected, so the release will be performed the day after the procedure itself.
In some cases, decided by the doctor, admission may be preceded by a pre-admission, during which the preliminary tests to perform the procedure will be carried out on the booked day.
